SITE SURVEYED FOR SALINA'S NEW AIR BASE

This map of Saline county's first major defense project shows the location of the U.S. army base in its proximity to Salina. The four sections outlined in black were covered by the army's survey before the exact outline of the base had been determined. The condemnation proceedings take in 1,441.88 acres of this tract, beginning at the northeast corner of section 34, extending a mile and a half west to the middle of section 33, thence a mile and a half south to the middle of section four, and thence a mile and a half east along the middle of section three to the east line of the base. A mile east of the base is US-81 and from that point a mile north is the Salina city limits.
