50 MPH ROAD
LIMIT URGED
IN WYOMING

Rock Springs, Jan. 14–A suggestion that the maximum speed limit on Wyoming highways be reduced to 50 miles an hour in order to conserve tires and lower the accident rate was made today by A. L. McCurtain, prominent Rock Springs auto dealer.

It is possible that the governor could set the limit by executive order until the legislature meets to enact the provision into statute. Former Gov. Leslie A. Miller set a 60-mile speed limit by that procedure.

"If a maximum speed of 50 miles an hour is made effective, it would mean that we would drive around 40 to 45 miles an hour most of the time," McCurtain said. "It would make a tremendous savings in tires, gasoline and the automobile itself.

"Most important of all, it would reduce the number of accidents."
