10 Tons of Pots 'n' Pans for Uncle Sam

Shown in these two pictures are some of the pots and pans that contributed to Omaha's gift Thursday of 20 thousand pounds, or 10 tons, of old aluminum to meet the United States' defense needs. In picture above, Charles Knapp, who operates a filling station at Thirty-ninth and Farnam streets, though that Boy Scouts in Troop 100 who collected aluminum in his neighborhood deserved some reward for their work so he opened his ice box and passed out soft drinks to them. Here the boys, pop in hand, stand behind the pile of aluminum they collected. Below, Officer John Wilhelm examines part of the aluminum heap at Tenth and Seward streets warehouse where the 10 tons of pots and pans were deposited last night.–World-Herald Photos.
