A bronze statue of a Kanza Indian aiming an arrow at the North Star is called "Ad Astra," named after the Kansas state motto "Ad Astra Per Aspera" ("To the Stars Through Difficulty"). This statue was lifted to the capitol dome by crane in October 2002.
