Gray County Wind Energy Project, Montezuma, Kansas. Construction of the 170 wind turbines on 10 square miles of land took place in the second half of 2001. The wind energy project was built by a Florida energy company, FPL Energy, and produces enough electricity for about 30,000 homes.
