World's only Corn Palace built in 1892 in Mitchell, South Dakota. Every year the pictures change as crews assemble new pictures made of thousands of bushels of native corn, grain and grasses which are all of natural color. Before 1979 the Palace was always decorated from top to bottom, but there was a fire in 1979 and since then any flammable material must be at least eight feet above ground level.
