Mexico Will Send
20,000 to Labor
For Beet Growers

WASHINGTON–(AP)–War Food Administrator Marvin Jones said today cooperation of Mexico in sending in agricultural workers to this county probably would prevent a crisis in sugar beet production.

Mexico agreed to increase to 20,000 the original 14,000 quota of workers to be sent to the United States for agricultural employment during June.

Sugar beet growers in 15 states will employ most of the 20,000, as well as a large percentage of the 40,000 Mexican nationals already available in this country at the start of June, to help with the thinning out of the crop.

The states include Montana, Colorado, Wyoming and North and South Dakota.
